Every few minutes, someone is diagnosed with a life-threatening blood cancer. For many patients, a blood stem cell transplant is their best chance at survival, but finding a match isn’t guaranteed. NMDP works to connect donors, patients, and researchers to make more cures possible and expand access to treatment worldwide.
Our Impact
Since launching our national partnership with the NMDP in 2021, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has made a measurable difference in the fight against blood cancers and disorders. Brothers across the country have helped add 34,000+ new donors to the registry, increasing the chances for patients to find a life-saving match. That impact has already led to more than 140 donations, each one representing a second chance at life. Through continued awareness, donor drives, and chapter engagement, SAE is turning service into real, life-changing outcomes.
How to Get Involved
Join the Registry
Signing up is simple. Register online, complete a quick cheek swab, and you could become a match for someone in need.
Host a Donor Drive
Bring the mission to your campus. Chapters can host donor drives with full support from NMDP representatives, making it easy to engage your community and grow the registry.
Fundraise for the Cause
Support patients beyond the registry. Fundraising helps cover transplant-related costs, expand donor access, and advance critical research into blood cancers and disorders.
NMDP Chapter Competition
From September through May, SAE chapters nationwide are invited to compete in a service-driven challenge in partnership with the NMDP, with opportunities to win rewards based on total points earned, average volunteer hours per member, and average fundraising per member. Chapters can earn points by hosting educational sessions, organizing or supporting donor registry drives, creating their official volunteer teams, and launching fundraising efforts, all of which contribute to expanding the registry and supporting patients in need. Top-performing chapters will earn national recognition and prizes, but the true impact lies in the lives changed through each chapter’s commitment to the cause.
